Day 10/10 to post past works. ‘Hyper ID’ is the culmination of an exchange project with architecture students from Wuhan University, China, supported by the @britishcouncil @unirdg_art & New China World Land Ltd. Installed at Wuhan New World Times Art Centre, Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. I worked closely with @sarahandcoe develop and install this work, she is ACE & scarily efficient at using a chop saw – as I found out 😜. This short film illustrates the details of the installation which consisted of a large screening booth (16ft x 8ft x 10ft) – one of the biggest and most challenging constructions I’ve ever undertaken. The film explored the culture of sharing and continually editing images of ourselves in the current era of self promotion on social media. Next to the screening booth a small plinth, microphone & printed text in Mandarin & English awaits any visitor to participate in performing the text, which itself is taken from the economically descriptive language of agriculture…., a small section of the mandarin version is recited in this video. Today I nominate @chriscawkwell in reference to his practice exploring language to post 10 past artworks in 10 days. #britishcouncil #exchange #wuhan #china #mandarin #studyabroad #agrilanguage #face #id #bodies #performance #installation #art #film #socialmedia #self #screeningbooth
